Alone, Late on a Christmas Eve
Late Christmas Eve I often find myself alone
And only I can make myself at home
By watching songs and plays of Christmas tone
And eating cookies, nuts and reading some
Old book I got from someone else last year.

But, this year, instead, I’m going to church to hear
Carols sung and hymns of praise abound
At the little church across the street.

I feel at peace there with myself and God, and
Think of good not bad, nor sad, and bands
Of angels sing their praise to God and nod
At me and know that once again at last
